    How To Find The Volume of A Soil Heap

    Hi,

    Can some one show me a method for calculating the volume of the soil heap on the attachment.

    1. I assume that the heap is divided into equidistant slices.

    2. Each slice is nearly(!) a frustum of a pyramid (see here: Frustum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

    3. The ends of the heap can be considered as pyramids .

    4. You'll get a result which will be a little bit too small because with my method you'll disregard the rounded shape of the heap.
