    rhombus

    a rhombus has sides of length 10 inches, and the lengths of its diagonals difference by 4 inches . what is the area of the rhoumbus in square inches ?

    Area = half of the product of the diagonals.

    To get the length x of the shorter diagonal, note that the diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular to each other. Therefore:

    x^2 + (x - 2)^2 = 10^2.
