I feel so stupid for even asking these two questions right now...but I feel like I'm missing something.

The perimeter of a rectangle is 72 centimeters. The base is 3 times the height. What are the dimensions of the rectangle? What is the area?1.

I was thinking is went something like this: 72 = 3x + x

Height = x

Base = 3x

What am I doing wrong?

The area of a rectangle is 27 square feet. The base is 3 more than twice the height. What are the dimensions of the rectangle? What is the perimeter?2.

Base = 3 + 2x

Height = x

Same thing...but I'm still getting it wrong...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
