# Thread: Find the weight of the remaining pie

1. ## Find the weight of the remaining pie

Question:
A round pie with radius 14 cm weighs 2.5 kg. A wedge-shaped piece with central angle 72 degree is cut out. Find the weight of the remaining pie.

I have two solutions:

(1) (Area of remaining pie)/(Total area) x 2.5 kg = 1.5 kg

(2) ((360-72) degrees)/(360 degrees) x 2.5 kg = 2.0 kg

Which one is the correct answer??
WHY??

Thanks for those who helped

2. Sorry. I made a mistake. Answer for (1) is also 2kg. They should be the same

both ways are correct, and both should give the same answer (do you want to know why?), you miscalculated the first one, the answer is 2 kg
