more Right Circular Cylinder problems...
1.) Find the total area and the volume in gallons of a right circular cylinder water container if the radius of it's base is 5 feet and it's altitude is 20 feet.

2.) The circumference of the base of a ship's bunker oil in the form of a right circular cylinder is 28 meters and it's height is 15 meters. What is the lateral area of the tank? What is it's capacity in liters? In gallons?

3.) What is the height of a cylindrical pail 18 inches in diameter if it holds 8 gallons?

These questions will require these two cylinder formulas .

Total surface area of cylinder = $2\pi r^2+2\pi rh$

Volume of cylinder = $\pi r^2h$

(1) Just substitute appropriately into the formulas , where r=5, h=20 .

(2) $2\pi r=28\Rightarrow r=\frac{14}{\pi}$ , $h=15$ .

(3) $V=8\Rightarrow 8=\pi (\frac{18}{2})^2 h$ , solve for h .
