1. ## Distance between Coordinates

Coordinate A (X=482, Y=81)
Coordinate B (X=485, Y=83)
Coordinate C (X=484, Y=85)
Coordinate D (X=486, Y=87)
Coordinate E (X=483, Y=88)
Coordinate F (X=486, Y=89)

Distance between A and B = 3.6 miles
Distance between A and C = 4.5 miles
Distance between A and D = 7.2 miles

1. What is the distance between A & E?
2. What is the distance between A & F?
3. What is the distance between B & D?

Apart from answering, please also explain the forumulas used for calculating the distances.

Thanks,
Evony Cruz

1. If you want to calculate the distance between the points $P_1(x_1, y_1)$ and $P_2(x_2, y_2)$ use the formula:

$d = \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2 - y_1)^2}$

which is nothing but an application of Pythagorean theorem.

2. Plug in the coordinates - and you are done!

3. Thanks I think I learnt Pythagorean theorem more than 15 years back. Time flies and memories fade out ...
