    help with Cartesian coordinate system, never heard of it?

    Hi in my class we started diving into this cartesian system i have never heard if this and it seemed like no one else had eithier. I am about to take the final wenesday and have some questions i need to review. If you could help me with the problems below that would be awesome. ALso i know this is some easy looking stuff but its really nothing i have worked with before

    1.)The distance between the two points and is ?

    2.)Find the distance between the two points, and

    3.)Plot the points , , and . Notice that these points are vertices of a right triangle (the angle is 90 degrees).

    Hi thanks for the help i really need it , i just got back from class and am working through these problems , i actually got it very easily after your posted links and provide the correct answers below

    1.)The distance between the two points and is ?
    *answer=4.4721

    2.)Find the distance between the two points, and
    *answer=15.8113

    3.)3.)Plot the points , , and
    *answer distance between A and B =4.1231
    * answer distance between A and C =8.2462
    *answer to area =? i thought it would be 1/2 base times height the base being B=7.1419 times the height which is 8.2462?
    anyone got the answer fr the last one? i cant figure it out

    Use the formula you've memorized (or else look it up, and memorize it now) for the area A of a triangle with base length b and height h.

    \overline {AB} \perp \overline {AC}

    AB=\sqrt{17}

    AC=\sqrt{68}

    A=\frac{1}{2}(\sqrt{17})(\sqrt{68})
