I am unsure how to figure this out, if someone could give me the formula or inform me how to do it, I would appreciate it.



I am suppose to find the value of X

(Our math teacher had a subsitute give us these problems, and the sub didn't know how to explain it.)

The chord is just twice the base of the triangle. Do you see it? So find the base of the triangle, and then multiply it by two.

if you have the problem same this you can use my way:
15^2=9^2+(X/2)^2
(X/2)^2=144
X/2=12
X=24
so X is 24
