The gradient of a line in the form y = mx + c is "m".

Parallel lines have equal gradients.

Perpendicualr lines have gradients which multiply to give -1.

Firstly look at the gradient $\displaystyle -2$ and $\displaystyle 2$

Do they multiply togeather to make -1 ?

If not they are not perpendicular.

Are thier gradients the same?
