Help with these Geometry problems please. Too hard for me to figure out.

1. Draw a sketch (see attachment)
2. Let x, y denote the distances in question, a denotes the side BC and b denotes the side AC.
3. Use proportions:
b = 2y
a = 2x = y (according to the wording of the question!)
4. Use the pythagorean theorem:

Please don't post more than three questions in a thread. Otherwise the thread can get convoluted and difficult to follow. Start new threads as necessary for remaining questions. eg. If you have five questions, post three of them in one thread and start a new thread for the remaining two etc.
And if the question has more than two parts to it, it is best to post only that question and its parts in the thread and start a new thread for other questions.
And please type the questions out rather than attaching enormous images that are difficult to read.
