    Congruent Triangle

    Triangle ABC is congruent to triangle A'B'C'. If angle C is represented by
    2x - 10 and angle C' is represented by 3x - 40, find the measure of angle C.

    NOTE: Does the word congruent mean the same as equal?

    It means the same traingle. Same shape. Not the same area.

    Congurent when applied to two figures means all corresponding linear
    dimensions and angles are equal.

    Dot quite the same as equal; as figure and its mirror image may not be
    "equal" as in indistingushable, but they are still congruent.

    Now that we know that, how can I solve the question?

    The method is identical to that given in:

    if it is congruent that means corresponding parts of the triangle are congruent (equal if you like)
    so angel c is congruent to angle c'. so....
    2x-10=3x-40
    -x=-30
    x=30
    angle c= 2(30) -10
    angle c = 50 degrees
