The outer edge of the region that the broadcasts can be received in is the
locus of points 24 miles from the station, which is a circle of radius 24 miles.

For this problem only. The original poster would not understand if I said
that the boundary was the upper part of the surface of a sphere of radius
24 miles cut off by the near spherical surface of the Earth.:cool:
