I'm having trouble trying to figure out the process to solve problems that have bases. I really want to know the steps in how to solve these. Can you please help me with the problems below? Thank you!

Find the numbers preceding and succeeding each of the following:

a. EE0twelve

b. 100000two

c. 555six

d. 100seven

e. 1000five

Here are two hints:
The preceding in part a is $\displaystyle ETE_{12}$. Why? Add 1.

The preceding in part b is $\displaystyle 11111_{2}$. Why? Add 1.

Hi!

I'm sorry, so how did you get the preceding answer ETEtwelve? Does the E equal to 11 and T equal to 10 or something? I'm just trying to understand exactly how it works. Thanks for your help!

$\displaystyle \left( {11 \cdot 12^2 + 10 \cdot 12 + 11 \cdot 12^0 } \right) + 1 =$$\displaystyle \left( {11 \cdot 12^2 + 10 \cdot 12 + 12 \cdot 12^0 } \right) = \left( {11 \cdot 12^2 + 11 \cdot 12 + 0 \cdot 12^0 } \right) = EE0_{12}$
