Hello. I am having a problem with a question for my discrete math class.
What language is generated by the phrase-structure grammar if the prodcutions are S-->S11, S-->λ where S is the start symbol.
I really don't know where to begin with this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Could you give an explanation of the notation used? Usually in phase-generated grammar you have the following.
S = Sentence
IP = Inflectional phrase (sentence)
NP = Noun phrase
N = Noun
VP = Verb phrase
PP = Prepositional phrase
P = Preposition
Det = Determiner
I'm sure this sounds ignorant on my end, but how do I determine that? The problem that I am working on only had that information, nothing else.
