    Function Help

Consider the function ABS(x)=/x/, the absolute value of x.

    a. What are the domain & range of ABS(x)?
    b. Find ABS(-6)

I am not looking for the solution to this but rather what "/x/, the absolute value of x" means. I would like to try and solve it on my own and then have someone check my answer if possible. Thanks!

    $\displaystyle ABS(x)= x$ if $\displaystyle x \geq 0$ and $\displaystyle ABS(x)=-x$ if $\displaystyle x \leq 0$
