    Matrix Proof

    i have a matrix A = a 0 where a and b are real numbers. How can i prove
    0 b

    that A^n = a^n 0
    0 b^2
    for every positvie integer?

    By induction. It is clearly true for n=1

    Now assume it true for some k and show that it is also true for k+1.
