New to discrete math
I am very new here and am learning Direct Proofs.
The question is this
prove for all integers m and n, if m and m + n are even, then n is even.
haha i am retarded ... i left out m in m+n
nm... i wasn't interpreting what it was truely trying to ask.
Given: m=2k & m+n=2j.

Thank you! ... after looking at it I realized how far off I was.
I have another example I wanted to go over
for rational numbers x, if x doesn't equal 0, then 1/x is rational.
As I understand rational numbers, the are 0 and beyong and everywhere inbetween. But what other properties do they possess that I can use to prove this?
