Cool The name of Regular Expression

Regular Expression is translated into official expression in my native
language,so I always wonder why American experts use the name and which expression is unofficial?

Could someon give me a hand?
    Thanks!

why would you ask such a question here? you didn't even tell us what language you speak.

anyway, i'd venture to guess that if "regular expression" = "official expression" then "irregular expression" = "unofficial expression"
