    Proof by contradiction #2

    Class conference involves 10 students.The class had conference 40 times and there were no 2 students that participated in more than one same conference.Prove that the class has more than 60 students.(Excuse my English)

    Help would be really appreciated

    for proof by contradiction you need to identify what is your premise and what is your conclusion.

    A proof by contradiction establishes p --> q assuming that the hypothesis is true and that the conclusion q is false and then using p and ~ q to derive a conclusion.

    What you want to do is assume that there are fewer than 60 students and show that this then requires that 2 students must have participated in more than one same conference.
