    To give you a starting point, rewrite your recursion equation as
    s_{n + 1} = 4 s_{n} + 4 s_{n - 1}

    s_{n + 2} - 4 s_{n + 1} - 4 s_{n} = 0

    What is the characteristic equation look like?

    Can you take it from here?

    You should study this, this and this sections of the Wikipedia article about recurrence relation, or read your textbook, lecture notes or other sources. Once you've understood the method and have seen examples of its use, if you still have question, post them here.
