karnaugh map question
Hello, just a simple question re. Karnaugh mapping.
If I want to feed this into a Karnaugh map how would I do it.
ie. how do you fill in a map when when you have an unequal # of variable terms ?
I thought the terms would need to be equal.
ABC + AB
Thanks kindly.

AB corresponds to the blue rectangle, and ABC corresponds to the red one.
In general, if the total number of variables is n and a minterm has k variables, then the number of cells of the Karnaugh map corresponding to this minterm is 2^(nk). For example, here the total number of variables is 3. The minterm AB has 2 variables, so it has 2^(32) = 2 cells, and ABC has 2^(33) = 1 cell.
