Thread: How to derive consensus theorem?

I always the consensus theorem very unintuitive. How does X.Y + X'.Z + Y.Z become just X.Y + X'.Z?

I have tried to proof it with a truth table and of course this is correct. But say if I don't know about this law, how do I derive from X.Y + X'.Z + Y.Z to just X.Y + X'.Z through algebraic manipulation?
