    Discrete Math Proof: Probably easier than pie

    If a number x is positive, so is x+1.

    This seems rather intuitive to me, but I'm having trouble proving it formally.

    So far I've got is x > 0 and x+1 > 0. I'm not sure where to go from here.

    x>0

    Add 1 to both sides....

    x+1>0+1
    x+1>1

    therefore x+1 is positive.
