# Thread: list the elements in set

1. ## list the elements in set

Hey guys having problems with this one.
If B = {2,3,5}, what is $\displaystyle B^3$ ?

Im guessing there must be $\displaystyle 3^3 = 27$ elements which means 27 different combinations of these 3 numbers. But I dont see how there can be that many combinations! Any help much appreciated.

If you list them all eg
2,2,2
2,2,3
2,2,5
2,3,2
2,3,3
2,3,5 etc you'll see there are 27.
I don't think "combinations" is the right word here.

2,2,3, and 2,3,2 are the same combination (since order doesn't matter but in your case it does), but are different "permutations".
