The Rails Club, a group of 25 train fanatics, is to choose 4 of their members to be on the Board of Directors.
a). How many different boards could the rails choose if there are to be a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary ?

I assume that one member is not allowed to hold two different positions on the board.

If you choose members for each position in the order you give, there'll be 25 possible choices for Chair, 24 possible choices for Vice Chair, 23 possible choices for Treasurer, and 22 choices for Secretary. So the answer is 25*24*23*22.
