I cant remeber doing this at any point of this semester. But weŽll need it

"Our Alphabet has 26 Letters. How many words, consisting of 6 letters, can you create if you :

a) are allowed to use same letters multiple times
b) are not allowed to use same letters multiple times "

could you give me some source or hint how to solve such questions in general as well ?

For part a: How many functions are there from a set of six to a set of twenty-six?

For part b: How many injections are there from a set of six to a set of twenty-six?

3. a) 6 times 26 ?
b) i would say 6 ?

but it cant be that easy...

Wrong on both counts.
Surely you have studied functions from one finite set to another. No?
You said that you have not had this sort of question before.
Then why do you have now?

5. weŽve covered functions a bit mixed with set theory. i might have to take a look at my notes again
