Thread: need help Intercepts problems

hi i need help with these problems

1. draw the line with the given numbers as x- and y-intercepts respectively. write the equation of the line.
1/2, 2/5

2. find the equation of the line through (3,4), with equal intercepts

3. a line passes through (2,2), and the segment of the line intercepted between the axes is of length √5. find the equation of the line
ans: 2x - y = 2; x - 2y = -2

4. find the equation of the line through (12/5, 1) forming with the axes a triangle of area 5.
ans: 5x - 2y = 10; 5x + 8y = 20; 5x + 18y = 30; 5x - 72y = -60

3 and 4 are my homework. i dont even know how to start them. i appreciate if you could answer plus explain them. thanks in advance!
