Hi I have the following metric tensor

Attachment 22891

R0 being a surface with an embbeded coordinate systemuvn.

OK my question is, how come I dont need any g3i or gi3 terms to discribe the shape of his surface?

(sorry my Latex Fu is weak)

Hi

For anybody interested I think I now know why this is the case. I think it s because the metric tensor is discribing a 2D surface that happens to be embedded in 3D.
