Thread: Complex Analysis Textbook

Hello All,

I have read through Churchill and Brown's textbook 'Complex Variables', however I am interested in studying some Complex Analysis, emphasis on Analysis.

I have tried going through Alfors, but it's not a very good book. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I would suggest going through Complex Analysis by Stein and Shakarchi.

Have a look at the book known as ‘Big Rudin’:
Real and Complex Analysis by Walter Rudin.

I'd recommend Gamelin's text Complex Analysis. It starts at the beginning, and goes all the way through graduate-level material. It has good explanations, I think, and interesting problems.

Someone has to come to the defence of Ahlfors! His is THE classic text on complex analysis. It is a wonderful book, and I always use it as the first reference for any queries that I have on the subject. But maybe there are now some more approachable books for a first introduction to complex analysis.

Do you speak icelandic? If so then I have a fantastic textbook that my professor wrote.

Complex Analysis by Lang is good!

I see you're from Canada : if you speak french fluently, my class textbook (here) is pretty good (level L3/M1).
