Thread: the Moebius band

Try to generalize this, what happens if I cut the Moebius band along n evenly spaced lines parallel to the boundary.

maybe we cannot get the whole answer ..

and could anyone tell me waht is topological space?

My suggestion would be to grab some paper, glue and scissors. Make a few Mobius strips, and cut them, recording what you end up with in a table, then look for patterns in the table. For the first one, draw a line down the centre and cut along it. For the second, draw 2 lines along the strip and cut along them (it!! - you'll see what I mean!), etc.

I see what u say, it will take long time but you are right this is the only way to solve this problem, thank you so much I really appreciate that.
