why do we use phase portraits?
    what informations dose it provide?
why do we need to know the techniques of producing/sketching phase portraits without using mathematical softwares that can generate phase portraits?

The phase portrait gives information about solutions to a differential equation even if we cannot solve the equation itself. For example, closed paths indicate periodic solutions.
