    [SOLVED] Homogenous ODE Help

    Hi There !

    Can someone please explain how the yellow highlighted steps were derived from the previous step? I just cant seem to convert [(u-1)/(u+1)]-u into the yellow step.

    algebra?

    \frac{u-1}{u+1}-u=\frac{u-1}{u+1}-\frac{u+1}{u+1}u=\frac{(u-1)-(u^2+u)}{u+1}=\frac{u-1-u^2-u}{u+1}
