anyone have any ideas? im really stuck on it
So I have this crazy problem and I'm dying to try to figure it out.
It was a cold dark day at the beginning of the spring semester. Ellen had just walked out of the library on monday, January 23, 2012 when she discovered the dead body of Matt's Calculus teacher. Ellen immediately called Kenny (who was not at the library) and told him about the scene: a dead body near the bike rack with an empty syringe next to it. The cause of death was determined to be lethal injection with a substance that causes immediate death upon entering the bloodstream. The syringe found at the scene was later determined to have matts fingerprints on it. Needless to say, matt is a prime suspect. In fact, two reliable eyewitnesses, marissa and heather saw matt near the library at 9am that same day. Matt's alibi of being in differential equations calss can be verified. but only 8:00 to 8:50. The purpose of this trial is to determine matt's guilt.
matt worked up in the science lab over winter brea and handled a lot of syringes, so it is not unlikely for a syringe to have his fingerprints on it
all DNA evidence in this case has been thrown out due to multiple lab errors.
the body temperature was 96 degrees at 9: 10 am. the body temperature was recorded again at 9:16 to be 95 degrees the official temperature on monday morning was recorded to be 30 degrees at 8 and 35 degrees at 9a
three days before the murder, the professor visited a doctor, at which the time professors body temperature was recorded at exactly 101 degrees.
on the morning of the murder, before coming to work, the professor wrote the following journel entry: "i have felt terrible ever since I had that horrible calculus student, what was his name, was it mark? and for the past few days, I had a terrible fever. I finally feel better today, not 100 percent, but nearly back to normal."
this problem really intrigues me, and if started with trying to get the outdoor temeprature at 9:10 and 9:16 assuming the temperature is increasing at a linear rate. then with that i could get the rate (k) for the body, and i could figure out what time she died. Idk tho, and i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas
