Question: are differential equations used in software reverse engineering?
Background for question: I am trying to give my students projects in which they use differential equations as applied to their individual fields of interest. One student is interested in software reverse engineering, of which I know almost nothing. A search on the net only gave me two connections: (1) the reverse engineering for biological models, which are set up with the use of differential equations, and (2) certain programs created by reverse engineering can be applied to solve differential equations. Neither one of these are what I had in mind. Can anyone point me in the right direction, possibly with an appropriate link, or is this hopeless?
