    Definition of "solution of differential equation"

    what is meant by the 'solution ' of a differential eqaution. compare analytical and numberical solutions of differential eqautions

    A derivative is a function that represents the change in the dependent variable per unit change in the independent variable.
    A differential equation is an equation that has derivatives.
    The solution of a differential equation is the family of functions of the dependent variable in terms of the independent variable, that when differentiated and combined in the way defined by the differential equation, will satisfy the differential equation.
