# Math Help - Is my work right?

1. ## Is my work right?

So I've got to find the general solution of the following, and this is my work... did I do it right?

$(1+x)\frac{dy}{dx}=4y$
$(4+4x)\frac{dy}{dx}=y$
$\frac{dy}{y}=\frac{dx}{4+4x}$
$ln|y|=\frac{1}{4}ln|4x+4|$
$y=\frac{+}{-}x+1$

$(1+x)\frac{dy}{dx}=4y$

$(4+4x)\frac{dy}{dx}=y$ Mr F says: This is wrong. You should be dividing by 4. This mistake has consequences.

$\frac{dy}{y}=\frac{dx}{4+4x}$
$ln|y|=\frac{1}{4}ln|4x+4|$
$y=\frac{+}{-}x+1$
..

3. Don't forget the integrating constant.
