I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a calculus topic and its applications in the real world. Just wondering, how would being able to find the area between two curves be applied in real life? I know how to go through the motions, but I was wondering what an example of a real world application would be.

And a little background in my own life. I find that calculus comes in very handy in a computer science career. Many a time I apply calculus to algorithms for programs that write. You use more calculus than you know. Also, there is a lot of applicable calculus in an economic career too.
