    Proving that the following fcns equal each other

    Hi, I'm doing some review for my calculus class. This is one problem I'm stuck on. I greatly appreciate anyone's help.

    Part A)

    sec^2(θ) = tan^2(θ) + 1


    Part B)

    csc^2(θ) = cot^2(θ) + 1

    tan^2(t)+1 = sin^2(t)/cos^2(t) + 1

    = [sin^2(t)+cos^2(t)]/cos^2(t)

    = 1/cos^2(t)

    = sec^2(t)

    The second is similar
