    The simplest way is to draw the graph of y = |x - 4| and use geometry to calculate the area.

    Alternatively, note that | x - 4| = \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} 4 - x & x \leq 4\\ x - 4 & x > 4 \end{array} \right. and set up two integrals.
