The equation

$\displaystyle x^4 - x - 5 = 0$

has a root $\displaystyle \alpha$ between 1 and 2

show that the newton-raphson formula for finding the value of $\displaystyle \alpha$ can be written in the form

$\displaystyle x_{n+1} = \frac{3x^4_n+5}{4x^3_n-1}$

ok i simply don't know how it's done. but it's only worth 3 marks... :/

NOR do i know the formula!!!
