The problem is straight-forward.
Exactly where is your difficulty?

a) Find the critical numbers of: . $f(x) \:=\:\frac{1}{2}\,x - \sin x$ .in the interval $[0,\pi]$

Equate the derivative to zero and solve . . .

. . $f'(x) \:=\:\frac{1}{2}-\cos x \:=\:0 \quad\Rightarrow\quad \cos x \:=\:\tfrac{1}{2}\quad\Rightarrow\quad x \:=\:\frac{\pi}{3}$

b) Find the exrema of $f(x)$ .in the inverval $[0,\pi]$
