    Exclamation Related Rates question 3

    The top of a 5m wheeled ladder rests against a vertical wall. If the bottom of the ladder rolls away from the basse of the wall at a rate of 1/3 m/s, how fast is the top of the ladder sliding down the wall when it is 3 m above the base of the wall?

    Let y be the distance from the base of the wall to the top of the ladder and let x bet the distance from the base of the wall to the foot of the ladder. Write a formula connecting x and y (Pythagorean theorem) and differentiate with respect to t to convert to a formula for speed.
