Thread: Quick question about maxima/minima

We know that there can be two global/absolute extrema at most (one minimum and one maximum) but what about relative/local extrema? Can there be multiple relative maxima and minima or just one of each? Thanks in advance.

You can have several relative maxima and minima. Look at this 5-degree polynomial. It has no absolute extrema, two relative minima, two relative maxima.
