1. ## Calculus Differentation using Trig

A projectile thrown is thrown over level ground. at an angle x to the ground has a range R given by R = (v^2/g)sin2x where v is the initial speed in m/s and g = 9.8m/s^2. Determine the angle of projection x for which the range is maximum.

the max value for $R$ will occur when $\sin(2x) = 1$

3. how could you tell without calculus...or if you had to use it?

$R = \frac{v^2}{g} \cdot (something)
$

if $-1 \leq (something) \leq 1$ , then what is the largest possible value for $R$ ?

5. that actually makes sense, thanks for the clarification

6. this question is out of 6 marks, there has to be some sort of work i would have to show to get my answer...

You've been shown how to do it. It's expected that you can fill in the details.
