Velocity and vector problems
Please help me with these two questions:

Clarence leaves a dock, paddling a canoe at 3 m/s. He heads downstream at an angle of 45 degree to the current, which is flowing at 4 m/s.

a. How far downstream does he travel in 10 s?
b. What is the length of time required to cross the river if it is 180 m wide?

thanks a lot!

velocity downstream ... $4 + 3\sin(45)$

velocity cross-stream ... $3\cos(45)$

thanks, I've got the answer now, It's about 6.12 m and 180/2.21=84.9 s.
