    car problem

    2) A car is traveling at 100 km/hr when the brakes are applied. If the brakes can give
    the car a constant negative acceleration of 8 m/s2,
    a) how long will it take the car to come to a stop, and
    b) how far will the car travel before stopping?

    convert v_0 = 100 km/hr to m/s

    v(t) = v_0 - 8t

    set v(t) = 0 and solve for t

    using that value of t as the upper limit of integration ...

    d = \int_0^{t} v(t) \, dt
