coordinates of centroid
Let R be the region in the plane bounded by the yaxis , y=x, and y= 2/(x^2 + 1)
determine the coorrdinates of the centroid of R ??
i did draw the graph but (dont know how to post it http://www.mymathforum.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif )
pls tell me if im doing it right i so confused
first i set both equations equal to each other and got : x^3+x2=0 ; solve it and got x=1
i found these formulas in the text book and want to set them up
Mx= 1/2 integral [ab] g^2(x)  f^2(x) dx
My = integral [ab] x(g(x)f(x)) dx
M=integral [ab] g(x)f(x)
then set X=My/M and Y=Mx/M
is it right to use these in this problem ??
what should the integral limits[ab] be ?? should it be [01]??/
