I would just like to know how to derive 2e^x. I know (e^x)' = e^x but does that mean that (2e^x)' is = 2e^x?

Yes, that's correct. In general, we see that $\displaystyle \frac{\,d}{\,dx}\left[ae^x\right]=a\frac{\,d}{\,dx}\left[e^x\right]=ae^x$, where $\displaystyle a$ is a constant.
