How do you write the function as a sum, difference, or product of logarithms

    log 5 (subscript) (x^2y^4 square root m^3 p)

    Is this \log_5\left(x^2y^4\sqrt{m^3p}\right)?

    Just use

    \log_b\left(x\cdot{y}\cdot{z}\cdots\right)=\log_b( x)+\log_b(y)+\log_b(z)\cdots

    and \log_b\left(a^x\right)=x\log_b(a)
