What is the partial differentiation w.r.t x and y for
f(x,y) = 1/(x^2+y^2+1)
Appreciate your help.
$\displaystyle f(x,y)=\left( x^{2}+y^{2}+1 \right)^{-1}\implies \frac{\partial f}{\partial x}=-\frac{2x}{\left( x^{2}+y^{2}+1 \right)^2}.$
You just treat other terms as constants. In the same fashion you can compute $\displaystyle \frac{\partial f}{\partial y}.$
